BEGINNINGS

Ye-Amlak Lijoch Foundation is a God-driven vision conceived in the heart and mind of a ten year- old lad. The visionary already left to his eternal home at the age of 23, thirteen years after he received this vision.

The English equivalent for the Amharic phrase ‘Ye-Amlak Lijoch’ is ‘God’s Children’. Hence, Ye-Amlak Lijoch Foundation means a foundation of God’s Children. Ye-Amlak  was the name of the lad and it  means ‘one who belongs to God.’  Imbedded in the late lad’s vision at the age of 10 as told by his parents W/ro Tsigereda Robbi mother and Engineer Fikir Alebachew were aspirations :

  1. To initiate an organization creating employment opportunities to enable needy families and the unprivileged to enable them to help themselves and their children.

  2. To own one thousand seven hundred hectares of farmland to be cultivated and support orphan and vulnerable children, particularly those on the streets.

  3. To see his country transformed into a prosperous nation where every citizen’s basic needs are fulfilled.

  4. To open schools affordable to all and particularly to those missing education owing to the low economic status of their family.
